Platform challenges hold back DFMs from adopting ETFs

According to Hoshang Daroga (pictured), Portfolio Manager, Copia Capital Management, many platforms are unable to fully support the use of ETFs in model portfolios, and as a result, discretionary managers are being held back from incorporating ETFs in their model portfolios.

“This is one of the biggest challenges facing the discretionary management industry right now,” says Daroga. “Some platforms have upgraded their systems and are doing a good job in trading ETFs, but there are a number of platforms that are not quite there yet.”
