In 2016 the banking sector was hit by the biggest change to their operations – the introduction of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). Two years on since its implementation, FCA authorised firms, including asset managers, investment firms, insurers and consumer credit firms, now face the same fate. Are you ready?

Due to come into play from December 2018, the SMCR is designed to establish ‘prescribed responsibilities’ and accountability with regards to key conduct and prudential risks. Practically speaking, firms will need to overhaul their internal procedures and build a culture of accountability. There is alot firms need to do to become compliant. So, even though the extension date of SMCR has not yet been confirmed, we recommend you start preparing sooner rather than later.
In this breakfast briefing Buzzacott's specialists will take you through the ins and outs of SMCR and provide practical guidance on how to navigate the new regime and prepare your staff. During the briefing you will also have the opportunity to ask questions and share best practice with your peers.
Who is it for?
This event is suitable for FCA authorised firms, including asset managers, investment firms, insurers and consumer credit firms. HR professionals and anyone affected by SMCR are welcome.

Global Private Banking

Euromoney and IMN will host our inaugural Global Private Banking conference in London on 22 February, 2018. This day-long event brings together private banking leaders, regulators, asset managers, and other wealth management service providers. Euromoney’s prestigious Private Banking Awards, held the night of the conference, are determined from a comprehensive global survey of private banks. Key insights and data derived from this survey have helped inform the agenda and will be presented at the event.

Global demographic shifts, disruptive technology and regulatory regimes have created both challenges and opportunities for the private banking industry. Join us as we explore how private banks should be positioned to benefit from increasing urbanization and the growth of the middle class within emerging economies.  Additionally, millennials are inching ever closer to becoming the biggest block of potential clients for banks — how can established banks gain the trust, approval and business from this generation? What services and access are required?
On the regulatory front, with MiFID II’s implementation in January the banking community in Europe and abroad will have new realities to adjust to and new questions to ask. Our Forum will be the best and most forward thinking venue to ask these questions and gain insights from global banking leaders. While the questions of regulation, transparency and interconnectedness are mainly policy driven, the answers are frequently found in FinTech solutions.  We ask our experts to discuss which emerging technologies and trends they have embraced and which ones they have eschewed.
Ultimately, the major strides in global wealth creation, generational specific demands and the blistering speed of technological innovation all boil down to one fundamental question: How does an organization continue to evolve and thrive? Over the course of a full day of informative sessions and excellent networking opportunities the Global Private Banking forum will set out to find the answer to this question.

Advances in Asset Allocation Seminar

The renowned Advances in Asset Allocation seminar is an intensive three-day course that will provide participants with an in-depth appreciation of the concepts and techniques that will shape the future of investment management.

Cutting-edge concepts will be discussed and illustrated using Excel spreadsheets that delegates can take away.

This exclusive event, presented in a highly accessible manner, will take place in London on May 15-17, 2017. The course will be led by Professor Lionel Martellini, a seasoned instructor who combines academic expertise and industry experience.

Each afternoon of the seminar is dedicated to integrative case studies providing practical applications in both the institutional and individual money management contexts, drawing examples from asset-only and asset-liability management perspectives.

The first part of the seminar focuses on bridging the gap between portfolio theory and portfolio construction and outlines a coherent framework, which can be used to frame optimal decisions for the design of a well-diversified performance portfolio through an efficient harvesting of risk premia within and across asset classes.

The second part of the seminar shifts from static risk diversification to dynamic risk hedging and focuses on the design of optimal allocation strategies for investors endowed with long-term liabilities or consumption goals.

The final part of the seminar shows how to account for regulatory, accounting, and other short-term constraints, which requires implementing risk insurance, in addition to risk diversification and risk hedging.
