Global ETF launches 19.8.21 to 2.9.21
The August lull in ETF launches is beginning to move away followed by a wave of new ETF launches, with the majority in shades of green.
The non-green, although definitely set in a growth market of the future, is Australian issuer ETF Securities’ launch of the ETFS Semiconductor ETF (ASX: SEMI), which brings exposure to the semiconductor industry through Solactive’s index to Australian investors.
We also have the UK’s launch, from micro-investing platform Wombat, of a battery power ETF, The Battery Boom’ fund with the ticker CHRG.
Meanwhile, metals likely to feature prominently in the transition to clean energy were the focus of the Global Palladium Fund’s world’s first physically-backed copper and nickel ETCs. ETF issuer WisdomTree has launched the WisdomTree Emerging Markets ex-State-Owned Enterprises ESG Screened UCITS ETF (XSOE). This ETF seeks to track the performance of the WisdomTree Emerging Markets ex-State-Owned Enterprises ESG Screened Index, which has been live since 2014, and is designed to track the performance of emerging markets stocks that are not state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Amundi, Europe’s largest ETF issuer and a pioneer in ESG investing, has launched a new fossil fuel free equity ETF, offering broad exposure to Asian Emerging Markets, the Amundi Index MSCI EM Asia SRI - UCITS ETF D. Its French compatriot firm, BNP Paribas AM, has also launched an SRI fund, the BNP Paribas Easy MSCI China Select SRI S-Series 10% Capped UCITS ETF, a listed index fund offering investors exposure to the Chinese market, by selecting the best-rated companies in terms of ESG approach.
Increased demand from investors to incorporate ESG into their fixed income portfolios continues to drive the transition from traditional fixed income ETFs into sustainable exposures, writes BlackRock as it launched its global aggregate bond ESG ETF.
Meanwhile those busy people at HANetf were back with the launch of DTOX. An award for the wittiest ticker must surely be on the cards in the next set of ETF Express awards. DTOX, the Cleaner Living ESG-S UCITS ETF from HANetf and Quikro, is billed as Europe’s first cleaner living ETF.
Final launch from this end of summer period, comes from UBS Asset Management, which has launched the first sustainable UCITS ETF covering global small cap stocks, the UBS ETF (IE) MSCI World Small Cap Socially Responsible UCITS ETF.
