Vegan ETF gets flying start
A busy week in the ETF world saw the launch of the first vegan ETF, VEGN from Beyond Investing, which raised close to USD6 million on its first day of trading. We have an interview with Claire Smith, vegan entrepreneur and impact investor, on her ETF which focuses on companies that are environmentally and animal friendly, and conduct themselves in a humane manner.
From veganism to gold, this week saw the announcement that the UK’s 1,100 year-old sovereign mint, the Royal Mint, producer of our coins in the UK, is to launch its first ETC, a physical gold-backed ETC, supported by white labelling firm HANetf.
Other news was that Tradeweb and EuroCCP are to offer central counterparty clearing of ETFs in Europe. Read our interview with both parties which details how it will work and the possible effect of the initiative.
We also have WisdomTree, who have launched a cloud computing ETF, focusing on companies that provide and support cloud services, a fast-growing part of the technology world.
