ETFGI reports ETFs in Japan saw USD3bn in inflows in April
ETF data provider ETFGI reports that assets invested in ETFs/ETPs listed in Japan reached USD311.06 billion at the end of April 2018.
Assets invested in ETFs/ETPs listed in Japan reached USD311.06 billion at the end of April 2018 and, over that month, ETFs and ETPs listed in Japan gathered net inflows of USD968 million, the lowest inflows since October 2017.
ETFGI also reports that April 2018 marked the sixth consecutive month of net inflows into ETFs/ETPs listed in Japan and that assets invested in ETFs/ETPs listed in Japan grew by USD2.61 billion or 0.8 per cent in April, compared to a 3.7 per cent increase in March.
At the end of April 2018, the Japanese ETF industry had 177 ETFs, with 191 listings, assets of USD308.22 billion, from 17 providers on two exchanges. At the end of April 2018, the Japanese ETF/ETP industry had 209 ETFs/ETPs, with 243 listings, assets of USD311.06 billion, from 19 providers on two exchanges.
ETFGI writes that the majority of net new inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs by net new assets, which collectively gathered USD31.63 billion during 2018. The TOPIX Exchange Traded Fund (1306 JP) on its own accounted for net inflows of USD9.26 billion.
