HSBC launches HSBC ESI Worldwide Equity UCITS ETF

Sun, 06/07/2014 - 10:08

HSBC ETFs has launched the HSBC ESI Worldwide Equity ETF, an economy-weighted smart beta exchange-traded fund, on the London Stock Exchange.

The new ETF, which is domiciled in Ireland, is designed to replicate the performance of the HSBC Economic Scale Index Worldwide, a fundamentally weighted index that measures the performance of more than 2,300 constituents across developed and emerging markets.
The total expense ratio (TER) of the fund is up to 0.25 per cent.
The index is designed to provide investors with exposure to equities based on weights which reflect the economic scale or footprint of companies and countries using the notion of “Value Added” rather than their respective market capitalisation.
The fund may use financial derivative instruments (FDI) including futures, forwards, foreign exchange contracts (including spot and forward contracts), equity (index) options and contracts for differences, which may be used to reduce tracking error between the fund’s performance and that of the index.
