TSE ETF trading hits record high for second consecutive month

Exchange-traded fund and exchange-traded note trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange hit a record high in December with a monthly trading value of approximately JPY2.8trn and a daily average of circa JPY140bn.

This is the second consecutive month that ETF trading reached record levels.
 
NEXT FUNDS Nikkei 225 Leveraged Index Exchange Traded Fund (1570) accounted for the majority of trading value for the second month in a row, while activity in leveraged issues boosted overall trading value.
 
Nikkei 225 and TOPIX-linked issues also saw moderate growth in trading value.
 
Trading in TSE Mothers Core ETF (1563) rose sharply as it rose to 12th in trading value.
