ETF Securities strengthens retail strategy with senior sales hire

Exchange-traded products specialist ETF Securities (UK) has hired former trader and salesman Frank Spiteri as head of retail distribution.

Spiteri will report into Matt Johnson, head of distribution for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In his new role, Spiteri will be responsible for promoting the use of appropriate exchange-traded products (ETPs) throughout the retail market and encouraging the inclusion of commodities and currencies as part of a diversified portfolio. He will also be involved in a strategy to educate the retail market about ETPs and their associated benefits as well as other investment considerations.

Spiteri brings more than 12 years of experience to the role and was most recently at the brokerage Peel Hunt, where he worked on the ETF sales and trading desk.

Prior to his time at Peel Hunt, Spiteri worked at KBC Financial Products as an equity derivatives trader.

Johnson says: “Frank’s appointment is an important step towards strengthening our commitment to making commodity investing more accessible to the retail investor. We believe that ETPs are the investment tool of the future and, with the recent introduction of the Retail Distribution Review, we anticipate an increased use of these investment products by advisors offering fee-based services. The shift in the regulatory environment has also prompted a greater need for education throughout all distribution channels and we are confident that Frank will be pivotal in implementing this strategy.”
