Commodity ETF gets soybean oil, loses orange juice
Thomson Reuters has altered the Continuous Commodity Index (CCI), adding soybean oil and removing orange juice, in a bid to “ease investor use of the product and boost potential returns”.
The CCI is tracked by an exchange-traded fund from Greenhaven Funds – the Greenhaven Continuous Commodity Index Master Fund – which, as of 20 December 2012, was worth USD485m.
Thomson Reuters’s decision to remove ICE Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice from CCI is thought to be due to its relatively lower liquidity compared with its replacement CME Soybean Oil.
