Pimco’s bond ETF passes USD3bn mark

Pimco’s Total Return Exchange Traded Fund has passed USD3bn in assets just seven months after launching, making it the largest and fastest growing actively-managed ETF ever, according to MorningStar.

The Pimco Total Return ETF, which began trading on the NYSE Arca on 1 March 2012, now has USD3.01bn in net assets.

The Bill Gross-managed ETF has returned 10.4 per cent since launch, putting it ahead of the world’s largest mutual fund, Pimco’s Total Return Fund, which follows a similar strategy, but has managed returns of only 6.5 per cent over the same period, according to Bloomberg.
