Exchange-traded fund sponsor Global X has changed the name, index and ticker symbol of its Canada-focused commodities exchange traded fund, Global X S&P/TSX Venture 30 Canada ETF.
The ETF, which trades on the NYSE Arca and has attracted assets of less than USD2m since its launch last year, is now trading as Global X Junior Miners ETF with the ticker symbol JUNR.
The fund’s original underlying index – the S&P/TSX Venture 30 Index – has been replaced with the Solactive Junior Miners Index from Frankfurt-based Structured Solutions, making it the first ETF to provide access to junior mining companies globally. The change also adds diversification across resources by including companies involved in the production of coal, copper, gold, iron, nickel, silver, titanium and other materials.
“We see value in junior miners at current valuations, particularly in an environment that could bring significant inflation over the next few years following massive quantitative easing globally,” said Bruno del Ama, CEO of Global X Funds.
