Xetra orderbook turnover at EUR79bn in August

Order book turnover on Xetra and the Xetra Frankfurt specialist trading stood at EUR83.8bn in August, a decrease by 54 per cent year-on-year from EUR181.6bn in August 2011.
Of the EUR83.8bn, EUR79.4bn was attributable to Xetra, a decrease by 54 per cent y-o-y (August 2011: EUR173.4bn).
A total of EUR4.4bn was attributable to the Xetra Frankfurt specialist trading, a decrease by 47 per cent y-o-y (August 2011: EUR8.3bn). Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange totalled approximately EUR2.7bn in August.
In equities, turnover reached EUR69.7bn on Deutsche Börse’s cash markets (Xetra: EUR67.9bn, Xetra Frankfurt specialist trading: EUR1.8bn).
Turnover in bonds was EUR1.5bn, and in structured products on Scoach EUR1.2bn. Order book turnover in funds and ETFs/ETCs/ETNs amounted to EUR11.7bn.
A total of 14.4 million transactions were executed on Xetra in August, a decrease of 55 percent y-o-y (August 2011: 32.2m).
The DAX security with the highest turnover in August was Siemens at EUR5.6bn. Continental AG led the MDAX equities at EUR813.4m, while SAF Holland topped the SDAX equity index with EUR42.8m, and Freenet headed TecDAX with EUR132.7m. The ETF with the highest turnover on Xetra was iShares DAX with EUR1.5bn.
