SCM Private, the London-based wealth manager and exchange-traded fund specialist which launched in June 2009, has reported strong performances for its two portfolios.
SCMP's Long Term Portfolio (GBP) achieved a one year performance of +20.4 per cent (after all fees) against an Investment Management Association balanced managed sector average of +16.9 per cent.
This performance would place the SCMP Long Term Portfolio 11th out of 136 funds if this portfolio was included in the IMA balanced managed sector.
In addition, SCMP's Absolute Return Portfolio (GBP) achieved a one year performance of +16.2 per cent (after all fees) against an IMA absolute return sector average of +5.5 per cent.
This performance would place the SCMP Absolute Return Portfolio sixth out of 34 funds if this portfolio was included in the IMA absolute return sector.
SCMP's investment strategy uses passive instruments (exchange-traded funds), actively managed by Alan Miller, founder and chief executive officer.
Miller says: "Our new investment model gives investors high liquidity, transparency and a real alternative to pure active or passive fund management. I am very pleased that not only have we delivered performance that exceeds our benchmark, but that it has been achieved at a fraction of the costs of most traditional wealth managers."
